We’re all going… to the Freak Show!

On Saturday, 29 October, Amsterdam Spook organised the 11th Halloween party since coming to Amsterdam (Technically, it was the 12th – as there was a big ‘ole house party the first year). For many years, the party was held in enthusiastic cooperation with the comedy theater Boom Chicago.

Put on purely out of passion for Halloween, Amsterdam Spook was thrilled to hold the Halloween Freak Show themed party at the historic Odeon Theater this year. With a bit more capacity, much more creative freedom and separate spaces to offer different music styles in, the 2011 Halloween bash was a fabulous night! Close to 1100 party-goers attended the sold-out event and there were so many incredible costumes! Who knew there were this many freaks in Amsterdam? Read more.

Happy Halloween, Amsterdam!

The 2nd annual Amsterdam Halloween Festival came to a close Monday, 31 October with a screening of zombie film The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue at De Nieuwe Anita.

The 2011 festival was all about getting together creative, like-minded freaks to offer folks a bloody good Halloween experience. The first event, a Halloween craft night & make-up workshop, was a fun collaboration of costumiers & make-up artists. Kicking off the Halloween weekend was a Fright Night Skate with costumed roller-skaters and a Zombie Camping party by the producers of the new indie zombie flick, Il Campeggio dei Morti Viventi.

Saturday night was the sold out Halloween Freak Show costume party at the Odeon, as well as the all-night horror movie marathon, the Halloween Horror Show. Sunday was all about the kids: with action-packed events at the Kriterion and ABC Treehouse.

Happy Halloween, Amsterdam!!

Amsterdam’s a-buzz with the Halloween spirit!

With just a few days to go until the very best time of year, it’s exciting to see more and more cafe’s, bars and shop windows across Amsterdam adorned in Halloween decor! Each year the fever grows, infecting unsuspecting Halloween virgins like a T Virus.

Most costume shops in Amsterdam will stay open into the evening hours, from Wednesday to Saturday. Best to call in advance to be sure. With Halloween’s increase in popularity, but not in costume shops, it’s good to go earlier than wait until the last day! Last year they had bouncers herding Halloweeners two-by-two into shops on Saturday.

Want to celebrate Halloween for days in a row? Check out the 2nd annual Amsterdam Halloween Festival. Put together for the freaks by the freaks, we’d like to make sure your Halloween in Amsterdam is Bloody Good.
