Owner Francesco is a BIG fan of Halloween & decks out his shop with a whole spooky Halloween entrance every year. Good for any theme party, the shop offers a broad selection of props, accessories, latex & horror masks, lenses and ready-made costumes.
Witbaard (Ferdinand Bolstraat 22)
Besides the fact that the staff plus entourage come decked out in insanely creative costumes to the Amsterdam Spook Halloween parties every year, this is a good shop for props, costumes and accessories. Everything from wigs and plastic glasses to face paint, hats, lenses and full costumes.
Party House (Rozengracht 92)
A good, simple shop to stock up on items for any fancy dress party. In addition to a range of costumes and make-up in the back of the shop, here you’ll find fun, reasonably priced accessories like plastic eye glasses, lenses, hats, stick-on mustaches, feather boa’s, wings, masks, cheap wigs, fake blood and more.
Jokes (van Woustraat 225)
This shop is jam-packed with everything you’d ever need to head to the carnival. But, just like many shops in Amsterdam, Jokes has now expanded to include lots of Halloween supplies, costumes, props, wigs, gags and make-up.
Backstage (Rozengracht 101-103)
Across the street from the Party House is the make-up shop Backstage. Top quality wigs, feathers, great selection of fake eyelashes, prosthetics, make-up, body paint, latex, and some gorgeous costume accessories like laser-cut Venetian-style masks. The shop sells The Underworld Halloween tickets and show your ticket to get 10% off selected products.
Mask Shop Venice (Warmoesstraat 18)
Easy to order online, this shop stocks a wide selection of masks: Filigree, Venetian, Masquerade, feather, leather and more. Prices range from around €25 to €150.
Alternatief Kostuumverhuur (Pilotenstraat 11)
This shop has a massive selection of costumes and accessories for hire. Prices are reasonable (about €50 for a full costume) and owner Monique and her team of stylists are really helpful. Count on a couple hours there – it’s busy around Halloween and other holidays and there’s so much to look at!
Gerritsen costumes (Weteringschans 116)
A treasure trove of quality costumes and a great place to get inspired if you’re not sure what to wear. Rental only, around €70 for a full costume. If you’re not keen to go for the full costume, you can also just rent an item or two that suits your fancy: leather corset, silver ringmaster jacket with tailcoats, cosmonaut helmet. Ask the staff or owner Myriam for advice or spend a few hours browsing!
