Amsterdam Spook’s 12th Halloween costume party took a stab at Hollywood! Winehouse and Lagerfeld, Barbie and Braveheart, PSY’s and Joker’s, Kennys and Bender made up an A-list of costumed party-goers at a sold-out Odeon Theatre. Best costume won a trip to London & we shot a movie on the night, in The Cutting Room.
In a time when wenches wore corsets, gentlemen wore top hats and mobile phones were steam-powered, the Freak Show was a refined form of entertainment – a circus of horrors. With over 35 artists & performers, Amsterdam Spook‘s ’11 Halloween paid homage to the exhibition of human oddities and to steampunk.
Highlights of Mad Science included a virus & white blood cell battle, shots of yellow liqueur in sample cups, in-house Science Lab with experiments & DNA extracted into wearable test tubes, and a fun line-up of DJs & artists. Held at Boom Chicago, best-dressed at Mad Science won a portrait of their own DNA.
The theme for the 9th annual Halloween costume bash was not only dedicated to scary movies – the party WAS a horror film. Guests of THRILLER starred in Amsterdam’s very own soon-to-be cult classic: Halloween THRILLER. Venue was Boom Chicago & the Watering hole.
The theme for Halloween ’08 was the Día de Los Muertos or the Day of the Dead. A colourfully costumed crowd started with a haunted house tour of the Amsterdam Dungeon, followed by a Mariachi-led Halloween parade & procession through Amsterdam city centre, and costume bash hosted at Boom Chicago.
The theme for Halloween 07 paid homage to old skool Science Fiction. DJs, live performances and an unparalleled force of creative costumes sent a sold-out crowd into orbit. The date is October 27, 1955, one week after the almost complete destruction of planet earth…
